Obituary for Jerry Glen Grimes

Jerry Glen Grimes was born on a spring day on the 29th of March in 1945 and left this earth two days shy of his 73rd birthday. But the birth and death of this beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and PaPaw, however, is not nearly as relevant as all the days and nights he lived to the fullest between those two dates. Jerry was the second oldest of four boys and was born in Cooper, TX. After several moves in childhood, the family settled in Brownfield TX, where he later joined the United States Airforce.
Jerry could always be found in, under, and around anything with a motor but had a lifelong love of the 55’ Chevy and anything with two wheels. To say he was a Jack-of-all-trades is an understatement, with him being a Helicopter mechanic, an MP in the Air Force, fabricator for General Dynamics, pipe inspector in Egypt, he was owner/operator of his own business as a pipe inspector and BBQ joint. After these endeavors, he ended up doing the one thing he said he’d never do, become a truck driver. He did this for many years with Ezell-Key Feeds and drove a tanker until retirement. Throughout his life, he could always be found at the local coffee shop visiting and laughing, with pen in hand to illustrate his stories. He loved his family and truly adored his grandkids as they did their PaPaw.
Survived by his loving wife of 28 years Theresa Grimes; four children: Keith Grimes and wife Kim of Temple, NH; Kim Davis and husband BC of Weatherford, TX; Kale Grimes and wife Candice of Snyder, TX; Kana Cole and husband Mitchell of Dunn, TX; brother Ricky Grimes of Sweetwater, TX; and his 8 wonderful grandchildren: Kamryn, Lila, Kolton, Colt, Delia, Ashley, Amanda, and Amber, a great-granddaughter Amaya, as well as several nieces and nephews. Two lifelong friends; Leon Gibbs and Jerry Jackson. Preceding in death by parents; Leonard William Grimes and Dorothy Faye Grimes, brothers Bill Grimes, Jimmy Grimes, and sister-in-laws Carol Grimes and Jackie Grimes.
Visitation will be Friday, March 30 from 6-8pm and service will be Saturday, March 31 at 2 pm at Miller Funeral Home in Snyder TX. Burial to follow at Snyder Cemetery. Flowers can be sent to Miller Family Funeral Home.
