Ruthie Raspberry, age 92, formerly of Snyder, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017 in Frisco, Tx.

Graveside services for Ms. Rasberry will be Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 11:30 pm at Hillside Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller Family Funeral Home.

Ruthie was born in Lufkin, Tx on September 20, 1923 to W.W. and Sallie (Billingsley) Weeks. She grew up on the gulf coast of Texas. Her father worked for Gulf Oil. When Ruthie was in the 7th grade the family moved about 10 miles inland to Nederland, TX.

While in high school, Ruthie participated in several sports including basketball, baseball, and swimming. After graduation, she worked as a telephone operator.

Ruthie met the man of her dreams and was married to W.C. Rasberry on January 17, 1942 in Jefferson County, Tx, just before he went overseas during the war. After the war, they moved to west Texas (Snyder) in the early 50’s. They had two children (Warren and Clinton).

Ruthie worked for the Snyder School District for 30+ years and enjoyed being close to her boys while they were growing up. When she wasn’t working or caring for the family, she enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, and lunches out.

Ruthie and W.C. moved to Plano in 2012 to be closer to Warren and his wife Agnes, living in an independent living community until W.C. passed away in 2014.
