Obituary for Elvin Loper

Elvin "Tex" Loper, age 74, ended his battle with alzheimer's disease peacefully on Wednesday, October 5th, surrounded by his family.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, October 9th from 1pm to 3pm at the Ira Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Miller Family Funeral Home.

Born on August 10, 1942 to the late William (Punk) and Norah Loper. Elvin was a record holding athlete throughout school. Upon graduating, he enlisted into the United States Army. After six years of dedicated service, Elvin climbed the oilfield ladder while starting a family in west Texas. He later moved to Millsap, TX and was considered a well respected father, husband and brother.

Elvin is survived by his children; James(Thomas)Loper-Rice, Michelle (Michael) Gore, Trisha Cotten and Dean (Morgan) Loper. His sister Wanda Lee; brothers W.R. and Lonnie; grandchildren Jeremy (Jasmin), Andrew, Amanda, Haden, Kamryn, Hannah, Alexia, Harley and Grayson. Also, numerous nieces, nephews and countless life-long friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Norah, his wife Sarah Jo, sisters Kay, Barbara and Sandra, brothers Charlie Dean, Jesse and Bob, one son-in-law Jay Cotten and grandson Kaleb Dean.

A very special thanks to Keenland Nursing Home in Weatherford and Solaris Hospice for making Elvin's last months comfortable and to Miller Family Funeral Home.
