Obituary for Jo Stephens

Eva Jo Maschek Stephens

1928-2018

Eva Jo Maschek Stephens went to be in the arms of her Lord Jesus on April 15, 2018, at home with her beloved daughters at her side.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at the Colonial Hill Baptist Church, with her nephew-in-law, James Hamblen, officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6-7 pm, Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at Miller Family Funeral Home.

She was born to William Joseph Maschek and Ethel Gertrude Brooks Maschek on November 15, 1928, at Rogers Community, Texas. She attended Tuscola, Texas, schools and married Glen “Red” Stephens in Winters, Texas, on June 19, 1946.

Mother was a devoted Christian wife and mother. She often told of her baptismal in a stock tank with trees all around in the Rogers Community when she was 12 years old. She had been a member of the Colonial Hill Baptist Church since 1962.

She loved being a stay-at-home mom to her two daughters, Donna and Jo Beth. She was very proud of her girls and all they have accomplished. She and Red loved working in their yard, being named “Yard of the Month” on more than one occasion.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years in 2014, her parents, a brother Emmett, and her only sister, Willie D Smith.

Those left to celebrate her life are her daughter, Donna Stephens Price and her husband, Sonny, of Junction, Texas, and Jo Beth Stephens Everett and her husband, John, of Snyder. Two nieces, Dianne Hamblen and her husband James of Ruidoso, New Mexico, and Janice Jo Ireland and her husband, Dave of Fulshear, Texas. One nephew, David Smith and his fiancé, Lesa Sonnier of Snyder.

Our precious mother loved Jesus and her family. Her life was a blessing to her family and to all of those who knew her.
