Obituary for Ruth Shaw (Hickey)

Ruth Shaw, age 90 of Snyder, passed away, Sunday, February 11, 2018.

Graveside services for Mrs. Shaw will be Friday, February 16, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillside Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller Family Funeral Home.

Ruth Shaw was born December 25, 1927 in Tulia, TX to Roger and Thelma (Chiles) Hickey. She married Wally "Bud" Shaw. He precedes her in death.

Ruth was affectionately know as "Granny" to those who loved her the most. She was a talented seamstress, artist, doll maker, songwriter and political activist. She spent most of her life in Snyder, TX and loved her little town with all of her heart. She was so very proud of her son, Hal Raymond Snider Sr, who preceded her in death in 2007. Hal and his wife have her four grandchildren that were her entire world. She used to make all of Stacy and Sharla's clothes, complete with matching hats. She took care of the grand kids when her grandson Hal Jr. was battling childhood cancer so that his parents could focus all their attention on him. Then, years later, she was surprised with a new grand daughter, Shalayna, that she called "Bubblicious". Family was everything to her and she will be missed terribly.

She is survived by
4) Grandchildren
Stacy Eckman of Houston
Sharla Lee of Midland
Shalayna Valencia of Midland
Hal R. Snider of Carlsbad, NM
The grandchildren's mother whom she loved as her own daughter, Diane Biggers

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wally, Son Hal Snider Sr., Sister Jeannine Lowry and Brother Sonny HIckey.
