Donna Beth Smith, age 65, went home to be with the Lord on January 13, 2017 at Cogdell Memorial Hospital in Snyder, TX after a long battle with illness.

Donna was born on April 30, 1951 in Odessa, TX to Jimmy and Virginia Ward. She graduated from Snyder High School in 1971. After high school Donna continued to play a vital part in her community. She spent time training as EMS and eventually became a respiratory therapy technician at Cogdell Memorial Hospital from 1974 to 1981 when she left after the birth of her daughter. Donna also entered the Army and was in basic training when she was injured and honorably discharged. She married Jeff Smith on March 27, 1981 in her family home in Snyder, TX. She spent 14 years as the deputy treasurer of Scurry County. Donna enjoyed bowling, dancing, and spending time with her family and friends.

Donna is survived by her husband Jeff Smith of Snyder, daughter Amanda Smith of Snyder, two grandsons Stryder Smith and Merrick Shipley of Snyder, sister Jeanette Sutton of Snyder, and brother Keith Ward of Bristow, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews as well as extended family and friends.

She is proceeded in death by her parents Jimmy and Virginia Ward of Snyder, TX.

Visitation is Monday January 16 from 6 to 7PM at Miller Family Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at Dunn Cemetery at 2PM on Tuesday January 17. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller Family Funeral Home.
