Obituary for Jimmy Ward

Jimmy Keith Ward was welcomed home by his Lord and Savior on December 24, 2016 at age 90, in the comfort of his home in Snyder, Texas.
Services for Mr. Ward will be Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Miller Family Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Howell Martin of the First Salem Lutheran Church of Roscoe officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 6pm to 7pm at Miller Family Funeral Home.
After a lengthy illness his memory is survived by his wife Ola Mae Willman Ward of Snyder, Texas. His lasting legacy is carried on through his three children Donna Smith and husband Jeff Smith of China Grove, Jeanette Sutton and spouse David Sutton of Snyder, Texas, Keith Ward and his wife Debra Ward of Bristow Oklahoma. Four step children, Larry and wife Pam Willman of Sweetwater, Ronald and his wife Laurie Willman of Roscoe, Gina and husband Mark Zimmerman of Midland, and Terry Willman of Roscoe. Mr. Ward has seven grandchildren, and eight step grandchildren, along with nineteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters, as well as his first wife Virginia Beth Moore Ward.
Jimmy Keith Ward was born on July, 2, 1926 in Wastella, Texas to Lon and Maggie Ward. He attended school in Roscoe, Texas. In 1944 he was drafted into the Army and served in WWII with the 25th division in the South Pacific. When the war ended he served in Japan during Occupation, then to Italy in the 88th division with a final return to the U.S. in San Francisco, CA. After leaving the service he met and later married Virginia Beth Moore on June 6, 1949 in Pyron, Texas. They were blessed with three children, Donna, Jeanette, and Keith. Upon Virginia’s passing in 1989 he later wed Ola Mae Willman on July 6, 1991. With the help of a G.I bill Mr. Ward graduated from Roscoe High School in 2001.Throughout his life he worked as a route salesman for 22 years, Scurry County for 17 years, and Snyder Independent School for 17 years.
Being a devout Christian he belonged to the First Salem Lutheran Church of Roscoe, Texas, the Veterans of Foreign War post #8231, The American Legion post #0181, and was a past Grand Master Mason of Hermleigh lodge #987 A.F. and A.M. Though he will be greatly missed his memory lives on.
